Topic: Gentle and Lowly Passage: John 14:1–18

102421 - “Father, Son & Holy Spirit” John 14:1-18.

One God! Three Persons:
-We don’t mean 3 separate “human beings.” God is not like us!
-We mean each member—Father, Son & Spirit—have “Personhood”; or, “Personality”
-Each “Person” in the Godhead has their own unique role

Genesis 1:V.1-3, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless & empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths & the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said…”

John 1:V.14, “The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth”

Jude 1:25 “To the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.”

2 Timothy 1:9 “He has saved us and called us with a holy calling… which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began”

John 1:
-V.1-2, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.”
-V.3, “All things were created through Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created”

Colossians 1:15-17
“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For everything was created by Him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and by Him all things hold together. He is also the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He might come to have first place in everything. For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him…”

“Gentle and Lowly”; p.121 -Dane Ortlund- “This is a book about Christ, the Son, the second person of the Trinity. But we must be careful not to give the impression that what we are seeing in Christ is somehow out of step with the Spirit and the Father. Rather, the Son, ‘being manifest in the flesh, expresses and utters but what was in the heart of all the three’”

Sermon In A Sentence:Our worship becomes more authentic only as we increase our knowledge of the Triune God; and, glory in His secret ways.

We Worship The Triune God:
-To know the heart of Jesus is to know the heart of the Father for us!
-To know the heart of Jesus is to know the heart of the Holy Spirit for us!

Deuteronomy 29:29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
