Colossians 3:20...“Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.”

The Biblical Responsibility Of A Child To Their Parent:
-Obedient submission to God
-Obedient submission to parents
-Honor the parents God gave you
-Trust that God’s ways are best
-Stand before God to be examined

Colossians 1:21-22...“Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.”

Colossians 1:27-28...“To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ”

Colossians 2:6-7...“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”

Colossians 3:1-4...“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”

Sermon In A Sentence: God reveals His gospel of grace to the unbelieving world, in part, through the transformed lives & relationships within a Christian home.

Romans 12:1-2...“Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God”

Colossians 3:17-20...“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord”

-“Wives: Submit”: “a voluntary attitude of giving in, assuming responsibility & carrying a burden”

-“Husbands: Love”: “a willing (voluntary) love, not the love of passion or emotion, but the love of choice— a covenant kind of love”

-“Children: Obey”: “to consciously, as an act of the will, voluntarily obey”

The Biblical Responsibility Of A Child To Their Parent:

Ephesians 6:2-3...“Honor your father and mother (this is the first commandment with a promise), that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.”

Proverbs 3:5-6...“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him”

The Biblical Responsibility Of A Parent To Their Child:
-Obedient submission to God
-Parent them under God’s authority
-Train them to obey authority
-Apply the Gospel to sinful behavior
-Stand before God to be examined

Proverbs 22:6...“Train up a child in the way he should go; and even when he is old he will not depart from it”
