Colossians 3:17-19...“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them”

Wives, Submit To Your Husbands:
-God’s design is always the wisest & best
-God intends to sanctify our homes also
-God is the wife’s ultimate authority
-God uses marriage to display Christ

That Word “Submit”:
-It’s “hupotasso” in the original Greek language
-It was: “a voluntary attitude of giving in, assuming responsibility & carrying a burden”

Husbands, Love Your Wives:
-Love her obediently
-Love her voluntarily
-Love her without harshness
-Love her respectfully
-Love her like Christ loves the church

That Word “Love”:
-It’s “agapao” in the original Greek language
-A “Present Imperative” Verb: “to love continuously; to be a habit or manner of life”
-A selfless, sacrificial love that is unconditional

John MacArthur: “Agapao”— “…it seems best understood in the NT to express a willing (voluntary) love, not the love of passion or emotion, but the love of choice— a covenant kind of love”

Ephesians 5:25-29...“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
