Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all”

Sermon In A Sentence: God intends to use Paul’s letter to encourage the Colossian believers & us that His Spirit will produce change in our lives.

John 3:16...“God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”

1 John 1:9...“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

God Transforms Your Life Spiritually As You: (3:1-4)
-Seek the things that are above V.1
-Set your mind on things that are above V.2
-Live the reality that death is behind you V.3
-Live the reality of Christ’s return for you V.4

Scripture Assumes That Genuine Followers Of Jesus:
-Have put off the old self with its practices and life style v.9
-Have put on the new self by knowing and imaging Christ v.10
-See themselves as sibling members of God’s family v.11

Romans 6:6...“Knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin.”

Colossians 3:9-11...“Seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices…”

Colossians 2:12-13...“Having been buried with Him (Jesus) in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions”

Romans 12:2...“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…”

Ephesians 4:23...“…be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness”
