Sermon In A Sentence: Our best defense against any assault upon our Christian faith is fellowship with God through His Word.

Colossians 2:8-10...“Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elemental forces of the world, and not based on Christ. For the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells bodily in Christ, and you have been filled by Him, who is the head over every ruler and authority”

Ephesians 6:12...“For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.”

2 Corinthians 10:3-5...“Though we live in the body, we do not wage war in an unspiritual way, since the weapons of our warfare are not worldly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to obey Christ”

To Be Careful So That No One Takes You Captive:
-Resist those who would use human wisdom to deceive you
-Remember that Jesus Christ was fully God in bodily form
-Rejoice that in Christ you have been brought to fullness

“Sin will always take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay”

“…the deceitfulness of riches that choke the word.” -Matthew 13:22

“…hardened through the deceitfulness of sin” -Hebrews 3:13

“…put off… the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts.” -Ephesians 4:22

“I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.” -1 Corinthians 11:3
