Universalism Is The Belief:
-That all humankind will ultimately be saved
-That Jesus’ atonement for sin atoned for everyone’s sin
-That it’s impossible for a loving God to eternally punish sinners
-That some sinners may be punished in the afterlife until their soul has been purified

“Key Verse” In Colossians...“I am saying this so that no one will deceive you with persuasive arguments.” -Chapter 2, verse 4

Colossians 2:8...“Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elemental forces of the world, and not based on Christ.”

Colossians 1:19-20...“For God was pleased to have all His (Jesus) fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile everything to Himself by making peace through the blood of His cross— whether things on earth or things in heaven”

To Define “Reconcile”:
-Typically means— to resolve conflict
-Transliterated “apokatallássō” from the original Greek:
-To reconcile completely
-To reconcile back again
-To bring back to a former state of harmony

Genesis 6:5-6...“When the Lord saw that man’s wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every scheme his mind thought of was nothing but evil all the time, the Lord regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart”

Sermon In A Sentence: Through Jesus shed blood on the cross God intends to reconcile all of His creation to its original state of harmony.

God’s Reconciling Of All Things Will Include:
-His final victory over all of His enemies
-His final creation of a new heavens & a new earth
-His final glorification of His adopted children

Colossians 2:15...“He (God) disarmed the rulers and authorities and disgraced them publicly; He triumphed over them by Him.”

Psalm 2:1-4...“Why do the nations rebel and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers conspire together against the Lord and His Anointed One… The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord ridicules them…”

Revelation 20:11-15...“Then I saw a great white throne and One seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from His presence, and no place was found for them. I also saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged according to their works by what was written in the books… And anyone not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.”

Romans 8:20-22...“For the creation was subjected to futility— not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it— in the hope that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of corruption into the glorious freedom of God’s children. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together with labor pains until now.”

2 Peter 3:10-13...“The Day of the Lord will come like a thief; on that day the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved, and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed... The heavens will be on fire and be dissolved because of it, and the elements will melt with the heat. But, based on His promise, we wait for a new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness will dwell”

1 John 3:2...“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”

1 Corinthians 15:42-44...“So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body”
