1 Peter 1:20-21 “He was chosen before the foundation of the world but was revealed at the end of the times for you who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God”
Revelations 13:8 “All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world” (NIV)
Sermon In A Sentence: It was always Jesus’ plan that His commission to take the gospel to every nation would begin with 12 disciples.
Luke 6:12-19 “During those days He went out to the mountain to pray and spent all night in prayer to God. When daylight came, He summoned His disciples, and He chose 12 of them—He also named them apostles: Simon, whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew; Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called the Zealot; Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor. After coming down with them, He stood on a
level place with a large crowd of His disciples and a great number of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon. They came to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases; and those tormented by unclean spirits were made well. The whole crowd was trying to touch Him, because power was coming out from Him and healing them all.”
Jesus Invested His Life In 12 Disciples:
-After an all-night prayer meeting with the Father
-Because His ways are not at all like our ways
-To show us how He uses ordinary people to do the extraordinary
-Confirming that His church would succeed in spite of it’s diversity
-Demanding that all other callings be surrendered to His commission
-Who would invest in & reproduce themselves in the lives of others
1 Corinthians 1:25 “God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength”
James 4:6 “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble”
Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
Luke 9:23 “If anyone wants to follow Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me”
Acts 16:31 “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ & you will be saved.”
Matthew 28:19-20 “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you.
