020622- "Jesus' First Disciples" John 1:35-51... Evangelist D. L. Moody--“A rule I have had for years is: to treat the Lord Jesus Christ as a personal friend. His is not a creed, a mere doctrine, but it is He Himself we have.”

Sermon In A Sentence: Jesus showed us how to make disciples by relationship building through time spent & communication with others.

Synoptic Gospels:
-To be similar in content, order, and statement. To share a common point of view.
-Matthew, Mark & Luke cover many of the same events in Jesus’ life. John is different.
-Is this a problem? No! God inspired 4 authors to record the events in a slightly different way to different audiences

Mark 1
-Vs 9-11 Jesus is baptized
-Vs. 12-13 “Immediately the Spirit drove Him into the wilderness. He was in the wilderness 40 days, being tempted by Satan.”

Matthew
-3:13-17 Jesus is baptized
-4:1 “Then, Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil.”

John 1:35-37a-“Again the next day, John was standing with two of his disciples. When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, ‘Look! The Lamb of God!’ The two disciples heard him say this and followed Jesus. When Jesus turned and noticed them following Him, He asked them, ‘What are you looking for?’”

5 Questions Linked To Following Jesus:
-What are you looking for?
-Where are you staying?
-Can anything good come from Nazareth?
-How do you know me?
-Do you believe because I told you I saw you?
