What Times Are Your Services?
Our Sunday School meets at 9:30 AM and our Sunday morning Worship Service begins at 10:40 AM. The AWANA children’s program meets on Wednesday night from 6:30-8:15 PM during the school year. Throughout the week we have several Small Groups that meet at various times and places. Please checkout our Small Groups section under Ministries for a complete listing.
How Should I Dress?
Dress at Morningside Bible Church is very casual. You will find people dressed in blue jeans as well as a shirt and tie. In fact, some Sunday’s Pastor Terry even dresses in a pair of blue jeans. We preach “modesty” – that’s the Biblical issue! As long as it’s “modest” any style of dress preference will do!
What Style of Music Can I Expect?
We are unapologetically “contemporary” and up-tempo in our music style. We use music written by all the well-known modern “hymn writers” of our day. We encourage our people to worship our awesome God with passion – that might include clapping or lifting hands in praise to Him. Our music service is led by a Worship Team made up of vocalists, guitars, keyboard, bass, and drums.
What Kind Of Preaching Do You Get At MBC?
Nothing but Bible preaching at Morningside Bible Church! Pastor Terry is an expository Bible preacher who loves to go through various books of the Bible verse by verse – in the last couple years he has preached through 1 Timothy, James, Galatians, Philippians, and 1 John. Check out the “Recent Sermons” and “Sermon Archives” sections under Media.
How Easy Is It To Connect With A Small Group?
Very easy! We believe that participation in a Small Group accelerates spiritual growth, so we make it as simple as possible to join one – just show up! We have Small Groups that are “men only”; some that are “women only”; and, others that are mixed. We have a passion for Small Group ministry and you will be challenged to join one if Morningside Bible Church becomes your church home.
How “Family Friendly” Is MBC?
We love kids! We love to teach kids! We don’t see our Children’s Ministries as a “baby sitting” service. We purpose to supplement the spiritual training they get at home with teaching from solid, Biblically-based curriculum in our Sunday School, Children’s Church, and AWANA ministries.
We also have an active Youth Ministry for the Middle School and High School age young people including – Bible teaching during the Sunday School hour at 9:30 AM and the Sunday Youth Night at 6:30 PM, both meeting in the Youth Annex; a summer Mission Trip; and, other Christian service opportunities throughout the year.
What Denomination Is MBC?
Morningside Bible Church is a “non-denominational” church. It may sound simplistic, but, we really just strive to be “Biblical” in everything we do rather than be held to certain denominational rules. We hold to the “fundamentals” of Jesus’ gospel in our theology while remaining “progressive” in our methodology.
How Can I Become A Member?
Membership is a relatively “painless” process at Morningside Bible Church. Everyone considering membership is encouraged to attend a “Commission Class.” This class is designed to feel like a Small Group and lasts approximately 13 weeks. The “Commission Class” will explore the basic, biblical theology we teach and how that plays out philosophically and practically in the way church works and the way we embody the Scriptures in the Sioux City community.
In addition to the “Commission Class”, just speak to Pastor Terry or one of our Elders regarding your interest in membership – (1) You’ll be asked to share your testimony of faith with 2 of our Elders; (2) Baptism by immersion following salvation is also required (We have “Baptism Celebrations” at 4 different times throughout the year if you haven’t been baptized!); (3) You’ll need to agree to follow our “Membership Covenant” as a personal commitment. THAT’S IT!
