Matthew 18:1-6...“At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, ‘Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, ‘Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the
depth of the sea.”
Matthew 19:13-15...“Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.’ And he laid his hands on them and went away”
Sermon In A Sentence: God clearly declares in His word that discipling the next generation is the shared responsibility of parents and the faith community to which the family belongs.
Because Life Heats Up, Pray Intentionally:
-For a desire to see children come to Jesus
-For an awareness of Jesus’ love for children
-For help to love children like Jesus does
-For families in our church to parent wisely
-For repentance of our spiritual neglect of children
Deuteronomy 31:12-13...“Assemble the people— men, women and children, and the foreigners residing in your towns— so they can listen and learn to fear the Lord your God and follow carefully all the words of this law. Their children, who do not know this law, must hear it and learn to fear the Lord your God…”
Joshua 8:35...“There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded which Joshua did not read before all the assembly of Israel, with the women and the little ones and the strangers who were living among them.”
