021223-“Who Is My Neighbor?”...Luke 10:25-37

Sermon In A Sentence:We evidence genuine conversion to Christ & love for God when we love our neighbor by serving them at their point of need.

Luke 10:25-29...“Just then an expert in the law stood up to test Him, saying, ‘Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?’ ‘What is written in the law?’ Jesus asked him. ‘How do you read it?’ He answered: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. ‘You’ve answered correctly,’ He told him. ‘Do this and you will live.’ But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus, ‘And who is my neighbor?’”

Principles From Jesus’ Parable Of The Good Samaritan:
-We can ask the right question with the wrong motive
-Scripture is the only authority for how to obtain salvation
-Without perfect love for God & neighbor we are condemned
-Our actions say more about our love than our words do

Leviticus 19:18...“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.”

2 Timothy 3:15-16...“From childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness”

2 Peter 1:21...“No prophecy of Scripture ever came by the will of man; instead, men spoke from God as they were moved by the Holy Spirit”

Isaiah 46:10...“I declare the end from the beginning, and from long ago what is not yet done, saying: My counsel shall stand & I will accomplish all my purpose.”

Jeremiah 17:9...“Man’s heart is more deceitful than anything else, and incurable—who can understand it?”

Isaiah 64:6...“All of us have become like something unclean, and all our righteous acts are like a polluted garment; all of us wither like a leaf, and our iniquities carry us away
like the wind.”

James 2:10...“For whoever keeps the entire law, and yet stumbles at one point, is guilty of breaking it all”

Romans 3:10...“It is written: There is no one righteous, not even one”

Romans 3:23...“All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”

John 14:6...“Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me’”

1 Peter 2:24...“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed”

2 Corinthians 5:21...“For our sake God made Him to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God”

Luke 10:30-37...“Jesus took up the question and said: ‘A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him, beat him up, and fled, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down that road. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side. In the same way, a Levite, when he arrived at the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan on his journey came up to him, and when he saw the man, he had compassion. He went over to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on olive oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, ‘Take care of him. When I come back I’ll reimburse you for whatever extra you spend.’ ‘Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?’ ‘The one who showed mercy to him,’ he said. Then Jesus told him, ‘Go and do the same.’”

2 Corinthians 5:17...“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come”

Luke 6:46...“Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do the
things I say?”

John 14:15...“If you love Me, you will keep My commands”
