Matthew 13:44-46...“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure, buried in a field, that a man found and reburied. Then in his joy he goes and sells everything he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls. When he found one priceless pearl, he went and sold everything he had, and bought it”
Philippians 3:8...“I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.”
“Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”...
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth
Will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory & grace
Sermon In A Sentence: Only as God opens our eyes to see the true value of Jesus & His kingdom will the things of earth become strangely dim.
Jesus Says The Kingdom Of Heaven:
-Is a treasure that offers such joy, that giving up all you have in order to gain it is worth it (v.44)
-Is so satisfying that the person who finds it will no longer live for the things he once did (v.45-46)
-Is for those who are righteous because they value Jesus (v.49-50)
-Is understood in the light of the old & new covenant (v.51-53)
Matthew 6:32-33...“All these things do the Gentiles seek. But your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. So seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Matthew 13:45-46...“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls. When he found one priceless pearl, he went and sold everything he had, and bought it”
Matthew 13:47-50...“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a large net thrown into the sea. It collected every kind of fish, and when it was full, they dragged it ashore, sat down, and gathered the good fish into containers, but threw out the worthless ones. So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out, separate the evil people from the righteous, and throw them into the blazing furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth”
Philippians 3:8...“I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.”
Philippians 3:8-9...“I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ… not having my own righteousness from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God on the basis of faith”
Matthew 13:51-53...“Have you understood all these things? ‘Yes,’ they told Him. ‘Therefore,’ He said to them, ‘every student of Scripture instructed in the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who brings out of his storeroom what is new and what is old.’ When Jesus had finished these parables, He left there.”
