121822-“The Sign Of The Prophet Jonah”...Matthew 12:38-45

Romans 3:10...“There is no one righteous, not even one”

Romans 3:23...“All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”

Psalm 51:5...“I was guilty when I was born; I was sinful when my mother conceived me.”

Romans 8:7-8...“For the mind-set of the flesh is hostile to God because it does not submit itself to God’s law, for it is unable to do so. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God”

Romans 5:10...“For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by His life!”

Hebrews 6:18...“…it is impossible for God to lie…”

Matthew 7:21-23...“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven… then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you! Depart from Me…’”

Sermon In A Sentence: “Though true repentance is never too late; late repentance is seldom true” -Thomas Brooks, Puritan Preacher, 1608-1680

Matthew 12:38-40...“Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus, ‘Teacher, we want to see a sign from you,’ But He answered them, ‘An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights’”

Jesus’ Teaching On Seeking A Sign:
-Everyone has already been given all the signs necessary for faith
-Everyone who delays coming to faith risks a point of no return
-Everyone who hardens their heart against God will be judged
-Everyone choosing to reform themselves remains lost

Matthew 12:14...“But the Pharisees went out and plotted against Him, how they might destroy Him”

Matthew 12:24...“When the Pharisees heard this, they said, ‘The man drives out demons only by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.’”

Romans 1:18-20...“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse”

Matthew 12:31-32...“People will be forgiven every sin and blasphemy, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him. But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him”

Acts 17:30...“Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now commands all people everywhere to repent”

Genesis 7:16...“Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered just as God had commanded him. Then the Lord shut them in”

Isaiah 55:6...“Seek the Lord while He may be found; call to Him while He is near”

Matthew 12:41-42...“The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at Jonah’s proclamation; and look—something greater than Jonah is here! The queen of the south will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and look—something greater than Solomon is here!”

Revelation 20:11-15...“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books… and anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire”

Matthew 12:43-45...“When an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it roams through waterless places looking for rest but doesn’t find any. Then it says, ‘I’ll go back to my house that I came from.’ And returning, it finds the house vacant, swept, and put in order. Then off it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and settle down there. As a result, that man’s last condition is worse than the first. That’s how it will also be with this evil generation.”

1 Corinthians 6:19...“Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own”
