“Warnings About Missing The Kingdom”...Matthew 7:13-23
Sermon In A Sentence: How easy it is to be on the wrong road, listening to the wrong message, deceiving ourselves that we’re okay.

Jesus Warns His Disciples About Missing His Kingdom:
-By entering the wide gate that leads to destruction (v.13-14)
-By listening to false prophets who teach false doctrine (v.15-20)
-By deceiving yourself that your faith is genuine (v.21-23)

Matthew 7:13-14...“Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it. How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.”

John 14:6...“Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”

Matthew 7:15-20...“Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves. You’ll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles? In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can’t produce bad fruit; neither can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So you’ll recognize them by their fruit”

The False Prophet:
-“pseudoprophêtês”
----“pseudo”= false
----“prophêtês”= prophet
-A True Prophet Of God= speaks forth the message God gave him
-So, a “pseudoprophêtês”; or a false prophet= presents themselves as God’s spokesman; but, in truth, is a deceiver

Acts 18:26...“He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. After Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him home and explained the way of God to him more accurately.”

1 Timothy 4:1-2...“Now the Spirit expressly says that in the latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron."

2 Timothy 4:3-4...“…the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned to fables"

2 Peter 2:1-2...“There will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed"

2 John 7-11...“Many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward. Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds”

Galatians 1:8...“But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel other than what we have preached to you, a curse be on him! As we have said before, I now say again: If anyone preaches to you a gospel contrary to what you received, a curse be on him!”

Matthew 7:21-23...“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven. On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?’ Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers!’”

2 Corinthians 13:5...“Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith. Examine yourselves. Or do you yourselves not recognize that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless you fail the test”
