Topic: Study of the Life of Christ Passage: Matthew 7:7–12

102322 - "Ask, Search & Knock”...Matthew 7:7-12

“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” -A.W. Tozer

Matthew 7:7-12...“Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. What man among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Therefore, whatever you want others to do for you, do also the same for them— this is the Law and the Prophets”
.

Sermon In A Sentence:Because it’s not possible to obey God in our flesh, Jesus teaches us to pray for God’s sanctifying grace to help us.

Jesus Teaches Us That Prayer Requires:
-Humility to confess that we can’t live kingdom life in our strength
-Dependence on the Father’s help to live the kingdom life
-Persistence because we often fail our attempt to live kingdom life
-Trust that the Father always gives us what’s best for us

John 4:23...“The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people
to worship him”

“God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” -1 Peter 5:5,6
-James 4:6,7
